“Shut the eff up!”: NBC and their butchering of the Olympic Opening Ceremony

NBC dropped the ball on their coverage of the Olympic Opening Ceremony, insulting the American People in the process

While there were events before Friday night, the Games of the 30th Olympiad opened on Friday night with an Opening Ceremony spectacle directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours). There was pyrotechnics, dancing, music , British gentleman doing kung-fu,  and bicyclists with wings. All in all, it was a pretty damn good job by Boyle and his constituents and when the world tuned in live on Friday to watch the Opening Ceremony, they mostly appreciated the hard work that the performers had put into opening the games.

Unless you lived in the United States of America. See, here in America NBC did their damnedest to try and fuck everything up.

This isn’t an understatement. NBC’s coverage of the event nearly ruined my entire enjoyment of the event. Having had to work last night, I could only record the Opening Ceremony and came home and turned on my recording. After the opening shot of the stadium, I really had one lingering thought about the entire ceremony. Read the rest of this entry »

BREAKING BAD Season 5 Episode 2 Recap

Again here is Keith.  He’s doubling up this week for you all in case you missed something or forgot what happened.  Thank him and enjoy!

In this scene Walter is forced to create a fake “ricin cigarette” in order to save someone he cares about.

“Are you ready?”

Mike the cleaner is on top of his game this week and I fucking love watching it.  This whole episode had a very Mike-centric theme.  Mike dealing with the DEA and his guys possibly turning on him, Mike dealing with one of Gus’ old business partners (Lydia), Mike realizing that he needs money and reluctantly joining up with Jessie and Walt.  This episode was satisfying for me because Mike has been mostly a mystery up to this point.  We had some character exposition last season learning about his granddaughter and seeing him take out those rival dealers at Chow’s laundry mat, but I liked seeing the details of how Mike goes about his day.  We also had a good amount of murder this week for it being so early in the season.  On top of this all, Walt is starting to come into his own and learn some subtlety as a budding drug lord and continuing to manipulate the people he claims he cares about.

BREAKING BAD Season 5 Episode 1 Recap

-Coming to you today is a review from a guest writer/good friend of mine, named Keith Mann, who will be covering Breaking Bad, AMC’s acclaimed series, all season long.  Allow him to introduce himself:

-My name is Keith Mann, I’m a huge TV fanatic and will be covering Breaking Bad for the entirety of it’s 5th and sadly, last season.  I will be recapping the episodes and adding my opinions pretending anybody gives a shit.

-Bring da mothafuckin’ ruckus Keith!  We look forward to your expertise and passion towards arguably TV’s best show. On to the review. Oh, by the way.  MASSIVE SPOILERS!

Breaking Bad, AMC’s critically acclaimed series, is back for it’s 5th and final season. “All Hail the King.” He’s tired of fucking around.

Last season saw Jessie and Walter finally getting a step ahead of Gustavo Fring, having him blown up by Hector Salamanca in the old folk’s home, burning down their state of the art meth lab, and surmising on what the hell they were going to do next.  Considering Gus took down the cartel in episode 10 “Salud” of last season, this leaves all parties at the start of this season scattered, confused and plotting on what to do next.

New “The Master” trailer

Here is the new trailer for “The Master” which stars Joaquin Phoenix, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams.

We haven’t seen Joaquin Phoenix in quite some time, but it looks like we are going to be in for some performance from him.

The movie is also directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who was nominated for Best Director in “There Will be Blood” which Daniel Day Lewis took home the Oscar for Best Actor.

It may be too early to tell, but based off this trailer Oscar nominations may be in this film’s future.

New Man of Steel Trailer

Check out this new trailer for “Man of Steel”.

This movie is being Directed by Zack Snyder the same director of “Watchmen” and “300″ and also produced by Christopher Nolan.

I would expect a much grittier Superman than the 2006 “Superman Returns”, but we’ll have to wait until 2013 to find out.

Revolution

Who’s ready for another post-apocalyptic plot?

This Fall, NBC is bringing us a show where one day all the power goes out in the entire world. Set 15 years after the power shut off, humanity is set back to its barbaric roots. So what happens when there’s no power? Well, if you live in the DC area you’re pretty much screwed. People around here don’t do very well with unannounced chaos.

So, the whole concept sounds…. cool? I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but I changed my mind after I heard who’s behind it. The creator/writer of Revolution is Eric Kripke (creator of Supernatural) and teaming up as executive producers is Bryan Burk (director of Ironman) and JJ Abrams (@*$&#! JJ Abrams)….. I bet the fog caused the power failure … or maybe the whole world exploded and Earth is in limbo. Or some dog is just dreaming about what it’d be like if the world had no power……. sorry.. anyway.

Check out the trailer for yourself and keep a look out for Revolution coming to NBC Monday nights this Fall.

Silent Hill Haunted House

The wonderful people of Konami have teamed up with Universal Studios.

This year, Universal Studios Halloween Horror Night will be scaring it’s guest video game style. The peacefull town of Silent Hill will be brought to life.

Personally, I’m pretty much a chicken shit when it comes to haunted houses. If any of you have seen a movie with me, you know I’m the guy that jumps when something pops on screen. I went last year (I think last year, might have been the year before) to the Halloween Horror Night, and nearly shit myself getting chased down the street by a guy with a chainsaw and running into a chick with a talking doll asking if I’ve seen her mommy (come to think of it, she might not have been a part of the cast). But anyway, this seems pretty awesome, and I hope they keep the tradition going and bring even more horror video games/ movies to life.

So pack your flashlights and put on a second pair of underwear. Check out a sneak peak below, along with commentary by Universal Studios Creative Directors John Murdy and Jim Timon.

The Last of us Clip

‘The Last of Us is looking to be an amazing game, here is a new clip featuring a new character: Bill.

We’ve seen action gameplay before, but this trailer lets on that you may have access to safe houses within the game.

We’re not sure how the game is going to play, will it be a mission by mission game? Or will the player be allowed to explore and revisit the ruins of Boston and Pittsburgh.

Where’s Carl???

AMC answered our prayers and revealed the new trailer for Season 3 of Walking Dead at Comic-Con.

Pretty sure you’re not even reading this at this point. So who am I kidding, if you haven’t already – click play and drink every time you see Carl.

Also, a little shout out to two of my friends, Kel and Lisa who did a badass cosplay at San Diego Comic-con this year of Michonne and her zombie boyfriend.
