American Horror Story Asylum Episode 1 Recap

*SPOILER FREE* .. sort of

Last night FX kicked of the second season of American Horror Story.

You might be asking yourself… “Dude, I haven’t seen the first season yet. Should I wait to watch that before watching this?”

Absolutely not!

In one of the most unique styles to create a show, American Horror Story Asylum breaks away from its previous season with a whole new story line, plot, and characters. If you did watch the first season, you’ll recognize some familiar faces (Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, and Sarah Paulson). It took me a little while to disconnect all of the character development and relations that I grew to love in the first season, but that lasted all of 2 minutes after Adam Levine started banging a chick on a crazy person bed chair thingy.

Last night’s episode was interesting. There’s definitely more of a religious tie in compared to last season, where you just had a haunted house with people dying in it.

Now you got Jessica Lange going all psycho nun on everyone as opposed to her last character, the annoying nosy neighbor that was clearly hiding something).

Evan Peters… well….. he’s pretty much the same. A crazy kid, that you have no idea what’s going on with his character. His character is going to probably reveal something halfway into the season.

Sarah Paulson, who previously had a small role as Lange’s psychic friend, now seems to be a main character as a reporter trying to figure out whats going on in the asylum. *cough*shutter island*cough*

CAST MVP: Jessica Lange. So far her character seems to be the only one that’s putting it all out there. Everyone else is hiding something/ keeping quiet.

EPISODE RATING: 4.5/5 (could have been a tad scarier)

The War Z

Are you a fan of first person shooters?….. or are 3rd person shooters more your thing? No problems here guys, The War Z is an interchangeable platform game. It’s an MMORPG FPS/TPS Sandbox Game.

What makes The War Z different from other zombie survival games? The War Z is an open world zombie game that has a Day/Night cycle. It has that same zombie survival skills feel as Left 4 Dead but with the open mappiness of Skyrm.

Check out the developers commentary below with some game play- but honestly… it looks a little boring. That’s just because I hate watching people play MMO’s. I’d rather jump in myself and run around for hours doing nothing.

Hensel and Gretel Witch Hunter Trailer

20 years later, after a traumatizing encounter with a witch and her deliciously awkward house, Hensel (Jeremy Renner – Avengers, The Hurt Locker, The Town) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton – Prince of Perseia, Clash of the Titans, Quantum of Solace) said f–k it to the bread crumbs. They’re loaded up with weapons and are out to kill all the witches out there, before any other kids get caught in another trap.

Check out the trailer below and watch Gretel and Jean Grey have at it.

Revolution

Who’s ready for another post-apocalyptic plot?

This Fall, NBC is bringing us a show where one day all the power goes out in the entire world. Set 15 years after the power shut off, humanity is set back to its barbaric roots. So what happens when there’s no power? Well, if you live in the DC area you’re pretty much screwed. People around here don’t do very well with unannounced chaos.

So, the whole concept sounds…. cool? I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but I changed my mind after I heard who’s behind it. The creator/writer of Revolution is Eric Kripke (creator of Supernatural) and teaming up as executive producers is Bryan Burk (director of Ironman) and JJ Abrams (@*$&#! JJ Abrams)….. I bet the fog caused the power failure … or maybe the whole world exploded and Earth is in limbo. Or some dog is just dreaming about what it’d be like if the world had no power……. sorry.. anyway.

Check out the trailer for yourself and keep a look out for Revolution coming to NBC Monday nights this Fall.

Silent Hill Haunted House

The wonderful people of Konami have teamed up with Universal Studios.

This year, Universal Studios Halloween Horror Night will be scaring it’s guest video game style. The peacefull town of Silent Hill will be brought to life.

Personally, I’m pretty much a chicken shit when it comes to haunted houses. If any of you have seen a movie with me, you know I’m the guy that jumps when something pops on screen. I went last year (I think last year, might have been the year before) to the Halloween Horror Night, and nearly shit myself getting chased down the street by a guy with a chainsaw and running into a chick with a talking doll asking if I’ve seen her mommy (come to think of it, she might not have been a part of the cast). But anyway, this seems pretty awesome, and I hope they keep the tradition going and bring even more horror video games/ movies to life.

So pack your flashlights and put on a second pair of underwear. Check out a sneak peak below, along with commentary by Universal Studios Creative Directors John Murdy and Jim Timon.

Where’s Carl???

AMC answered our prayers and revealed the new trailer for Season 3 of Walking Dead at Comic-Con.

Pretty sure you’re not even reading this at this point. So who am I kidding, if you haven’t already – click play and drink every time you see Carl.

Also, a little shout out to two of my friends, Kel and Lisa who did a badass cosplay at San Diego Comic-con this year of Michonne and her zombie boyfriend.

Spiderman Gets his First Sidekick to Celebrate his 50th Anniversary

It’s been 50 long years, and after countless team-ups and solo adventures, it looks like Spiderman is going to be taking on his first sidekick.

Same story, new kid, new amazing abilities. While on a high school field trip to Horizon Labs (where Peter Parker works), Andy Macguire gets zapped by a faulty invention.

Fox had the chance to speak with Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, who said:

“Part of it is that Spider-Man is grown up. He’s older, more seasoned, but young at heart. He’s still a young man, but he’s been around. It’s interesting because it flips the paradigm. Teen hero Spider-Man is now responsible for this teen hero sidekick. He’s responsible because one of his inventions caused this kid to get his powers. He’s directly responsible for the responsibility this kid now has with his new powers. He feels he has a responsibility to make sure this kid walks the right path, which won’t prove easy.”

The Amazing Spider-Man #692 goes on sale August 22, 2012.

Alphas: Season 2 trailer

A show about people with powers is nothing new to us. But if you watched season 1 of Alphas, then you know it’s way more than that. Set in the same universe as Syfy’s Eureka and Warehouse 13, Alphas puts a unique view on the way mutant powers are used.

Super Smash Bros 4

At E3 back in 2011, Masahiro Sakurai (creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros) announced that they have been working on a NEW Smash Bros for the upcoming new Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS (also check out the new 3DS XL coming August 19, 2012).

This past April IGN talked to Sakurai to see if they could get any word on updates. All Sakurai had to say was to not just expect some new characters, levels, and weapons. He’s making sure to incorporate the Wii U to its full potential to bring a new experience to us gamers. I don’t know about you, but can’t wait to see what they got.

“I intend to change direction a little as we go, the key to that’s going to be its dual support for 3DS/Wii U,” Sakurai said.
